I have not been able to definitively establish what exactly this was used for, however it contains a very fine sieve and has a pouring spout, so I wonder if it was a dairy strainer of some kind. It has some wear appropriate for its age, but otherwise is in excellent condition. This is a beautiful decor piece and could also be used as a vase.
