This is a very rare piece dating from around the 1970's from a very small company in Akaroa. It is made from Kowhai, which is unusual as it is not a readily available commercial wood and is prized for being a dense, heavy, and incredibly hard timber. The back has the live edge with no damage, wood worm etc and the red felt is in excellent condition. It is a truly beautiful piece of local artistry from native timber. It would make a wonderful gift!
